New Christmas Traditions

Since I'm one of the new guys on the floor, I don't understand the history behind my office's holiday traditions.

One of my goals for the Las Vegas trip was to find a "White Elephant" present for the floor's office party. I had no idea what this involved, so I had to look it up...and I'll be honest, I still didn't get it.

Today was our party. When we were in Las Vegas, at M&M World (Highly recommend this), they ran a special that if you spent $45 you got a free M&M dispenser with one of the color characters on top - works like a bubble gum machine. I know, it was free, but we bought enough to get 2 more...I wanted one so I figured others would as well.

All in all, I think most of the gift were acceptable. Many were fun, some practical and others made you scratch your head.

I present to you, the gift sitting in front of me after the stealing and exchanging was done. I think it was a win...this is kinda cute. You think princesses will like? It sings!

Sometimes I wonder what I've gotten myself into.

Glad you guys had a good time! M&M world is always fun. I also don't get the White Elephant thing. I'm going to a party this year where I will be participating in this. I'm gonna get some wine and chocolate. Hope that'll cover it?

Not bad, but I'd rather have the M&M dispenser.

The kids will love it (and drive you nuts by making it sing over and over.)

The whole white elephant thing is lost on me too. Our neighbors always have a white elephant gift exchange at their holiday party. Last year we came home with a bath towel, which was half brown and half white. It was a butt/face towel. ??? I'm wrapping it back up and bringing it for this year's party.

That would probably makes its way to the back of the closet.. the songs those things play drive me nuts after hearing them a billion times because a little one has said.. "again, again Mommy" :)

Unless instructed otherwise, I always expect the point of white elephant is to bring something horrid/unwanted. When our family used to do it, items even the Goodwill didn't want were more our style. Poorly painted ceramics are always a 'hit'...and I must say, several gifts from my mother-in-law have been prime elephant material. We do not share decorating taste!

My goal with white elephants is to bring something big and leave with something small. As long as I have less junk, I win!

Ummmm. As much as princesses will love it, I am looking at four similar things on my hearth all of which have batteries removed. This year I told Alexander they were broken. I just couldn't face them again.

M&M world is great. We spent ages in the Orlando one this year. Jordan bought a huge bag of black and white M&M's - because he's a Newcastle Utd supporter and they play in black and white.

I am going to have to take pictures of the sing holiday decorations my mom sent me. My kids are putting me into holiday overload by playing them constantly. "Guys seriously, the reindeer needs a break"
