Father of Five started this a little while ago. He put a called cribs to share the home he lives in. I'm always on the hunt for fun post ideas and this one caught my eye.
I have a special bond with our home. You see, our home was designed by my lovely bride OhCountess. She did a fantastic job. FoF was looking for curb appeal, and I think OhCountess has a great eye for just that.
The other reason I'm quite proud of this home is that we did a great deal of the work ourselves with the help of our friends and family. My wife's father is a home builder and drove down to join me on the weekends. Let's get one thing straight...I have a strong back and weak mind when it comes to being handy. I did exactly what I was told.
It took about 6 months for us to get this thing done. Building it ourselves, it took much longer then a conventionally built home. I was working a normal day at the office, going home, eating supper and heading to this place.

Our landscaping continues to be a work in progress. Some of it we have hired out and other parts we've done ourselves. The deck on the back of the house, yep, another weekend spent with the FIL.
This is it. We call it home. Our backyard sits on a city park. The kids love that. I appreciate the work it takes to build one of these things. There are days my back still hurts.
I got this post done just in time. Winter is approaching fast and furious. Soon, everything will be buried in snow. Hopefully it's not as much as last year. Our house faces the west. The snow drift in front of my garage last year got to 4 feet one storm. Everyone is welcome to come help shovel.
Thanks for visiting!

VERY nice!!!
You have a wonderful looking home!
We're still renting a condo, and quickly outgrowing it with Noob Baby. In fact, she started to roll around the wood floors today, and we realized how much we would love some good old fashioned carpet! Anyway, can't wait to own a beautiful home too! I can see why you're proud.
That is one trippin' crib. Would love the 3 car garage. Nice work.
Nice work. Good to have a house "made to order"
Would there be a small corner that could accmmodate two well behaved adults, one stroppy teen and a boisterous 6 year old in there somewhere?
Just for a couple of weeks that is?
I love your home - can we have inside pics too? I love house hunting programmes especially when houses are unique like yours.
FoF - Thanks! And thanks for the inpsiration!
Noob Mommy - Been there. We've rented, rented, built, rented and built. Carpet is really cool with the kiddos.
WeaselMomma - 3rd stall is quite possibly the single greatest invention ever. Well, that and the flush toilet. You might want to check this post out.
dmarks - Having almost built with a few crappy builders, we'd never do it any other way.
tismee2 - the home does accommodate house guests. Their welcome is always limited by time. Family has a much shorter leash then friends :-) I've posted some pictures in the past. There is a link up their with the reply to WeaselMomma and I did post the picture of our kitchen in "Saturdays with Daddy". On my poker blog, there is a post about a recent tournament held in our basement...many pictures to get you started over there. But that's not a bad idea for a series of post...hmm....thinking....
Gorgous home and I love that you live next to a park. The snow is something I can live without. I have a need for the beach...
Mike - we have beaches too. It's the land of 10,000 lakes, don't you know. We just walk on our lakes for 4 months out of the year. As strange as winter is for you, the lack of season, I mean real seasons, just baffles me. I actually like the snow :-)
AND.... (don't forget)
When you can walk on the lakes you can fish through a hole one drills into the ice.
The ice is even strong enough to hold up some "ice houses" that (at times) rival some pretty nice "cribs...)
(ahh... see how I brought that back around to the topic!! - Grin)
Very nice, Captain! It must be extra rewarding to live in a house you built yourself. How nice to have a park as your backyard too!
IMPRESSIVE! That is a very nice house. Can't believe you helped build it in your spare time!
We could use some help finishing our backyard Tree Fort/Play Set project that has taken over 7 years so far and is about halfway done.
